Report:
The recapture of Surwich is, after last week’s delays, finally completed. Alliance naval control of the southern tip of the Eastern Kingdoms can now continue, allowing quicker naval deployments to both sides of the continent and for all naval forces to move quicker to other key locations required on other islands and surrounding area. Some disturbing occurrences were observed during the mission that I feel should be noted and inspected if we are to preserve security of the port-town.
Firstly, while attempting to push through the blockade of Horde ships off the eastern coast of the Blasted Lands, it was observed that the ships were unresponsive, and that the crews on the ship were slain. We used this opportunity to our advantage and passed by with no issues, but this is disturbing in the fact that something is out there... and it was able to take out the entire crew of a few Horde ships. Heavy mists soon followed as we passed the abandoned Horde ships, and we were forced to stop the ship and continue our mission by land.
We approached the village by the eastern route, however, we decided to fist inspect the Sin’dorei camp on the north-eastern hills just on the outskirts of Surwich. As we approached the camp we snuck upon demons ransacking the place, rather than the horde forces we were expecting to find. The demons seemed to be arguing with each other as well, even coming to blows shortly after. We used this chaos to conduct a hasty ambush, and took out the demons with relative ease. The demons seem to have been draining the souls or life from the survivors of the camp, but a few yet were alive. The Sin’dorei alive informed us that demons have taken over Surwich, and were even willing to help us if they were free to walk away afterward. We did a quick search of the area, nothing of interest was found not already mentioned, but the supplies of the camp were intact and salvageable for later use. The camp could also make a good look out post for Surwich.
It was decided that the Sin’dorei forces would attack the town by the most eastern path and create a distraction, our forces would wait and then infiltrate Surwich by its northern path leading into the forest. We were able to push into the city easily, upon were we found the leaders of the demons, a worgen warlock who called himself ‘Shadowhound’ and a dreadlord by the name of ‘Mephventhir’. Both were battling each other in the town’s center, and each offered their aid to us if we were to assist one of them in defeating the other. Considering our failure the week before at the hands of these two, we decided to accept the ‘aid’ of the dreadlord to defeat the warlock. The fight, however, ended in a giant explosion of fel energy. Most of our ground force, myself included, were knocked unconscious. Our Master-at-Arms Shizari Crescentsong, who was unhurt by the blast, was able to drag the crew into one of the houses and call for aid, to which our Chief Medical Officer responded quickly and was able to render aid. No permanent injuries occurred to anyone, thankfully. Shizari informed me that after the blast neither the demon nor warlock was seen, both seeming to have disappeared.
Having the town now in our possession a security patrol was quickly done. No Horde or demon forces were found, seeming to have vanished as well. The Sin’dorei forces that assisted us were also not found, dead or alive. We are currently occupying the town and are waiting for further orders, it is my recommendation that reinforcements be sent for more security. Considering the odd occurrences observed during the mission, it seems likely that a counter attack of some kind, be it Horde or otherwise, will occur sooner or later.
